Luster and Dust
2012-2014

Luster and Dust combines documentary and constructed photography to highlight the human fascination and curiosity with cultivating nature. These images quietly celebrate tasks that are dirty and labor-intensive, blurring the lines between sacred artifacts, natural history, and a typical backyard garden. And just as the content of the photographs exhibits the evidence of the human hand, the decision to hand-color many of the images imparts another act of handiwork to the viewer.
